bizcom exam tml
It's been quite awhile since I blogged..
Lets see.. the last entry occurred barely an hour before my corp finance paper! Which means, updates are in order...
I figured it would probably be a good time to revive my coma-ed blog (wat kinda lousy english is this...), seeing how tml's my bizcom exam. Bizcom has been fun this sem.. Encompasses letter and report writing and different skills, such as intercultural skills, oral presentation skills, etc... OK, sounds like GP so far right?? So following this line of thought... how the hell do you actually study for sth like that?!? Definitely not by memorizing sample letters or reports... Must always maintain our own style and flair of writing manz... That way it sounds more natural and more fluid, not coming across as being memorized and then 'geh kiang' stuffed into the context.. haha..
Speaking of GP, I must really do some complaining here abt the way GP was taught in hwa chong. I remember during one of my first GP assignments (an argumentative essay) i started off with a rhetorical question as my introduction. And the teacher marked me down for that, with the reason being "I haven't taught the class how to use a rhetorical question yet". wtf...?!? Haven't teach = cannot use?!? Wat kinda screwed up logic is that? Cannot believe that our capabilities are over and above the syllabus is it??? And i'm sure i didn't use my rhetorical question wrongly. I perfectly knew what it was, and how to use it effectively. Come on man, I am used to writing argumentative essays in RV lor.. And i always scored in my essays.. I don't get how I can do so badly for GP in hwa chong if not for the inflexibility of the GP tutors.. It's the same style, and similar kind of question wat.. How wrong can I go??
And our tutor made us follow her writing style by giving us some standardized format of writing GP essays. wth... then why don't you just give us some model answer and we jus simply change the keywords to suit the context lah!! Write our own essay for what when we can only score by following your format of writing!! Kaoz.. Just because we want to pursue our own style of writing doesn't mean it's wrong.. As long as our arguments are sound and the language used is correct and clear, I don't see what's wrong with it.. Think 2 yrs of having my writing style cramped really made a difference.. I used to do just as well in english as my friend jasmine in rv... den after she went into the humanities programme in hwa chong (where her tutors are all british expatriates) and i went into mainstream science... her GP maintained at A1 standard while mine slipped to B3.. damn pissed can...
OK, so my whole point of this discussion is, I think as long as I follow my own style of writing and do what the instructions tell me to do, I don't think i can screw up my paper much lah. Though i didn't score too high for my letter writing assignment.. *sigh* but then I still got hope one keke. I just feel there's no point in getting myself too stressed up over tml's exam.. this is one easy piece of cake!! it's totally my cup of tea, man!! *psycho-ing myself*
actually right, it's just some pathetic excuse to justify my lack of motivation to study and prepare for my exam lah.. haha... i am such a slacker *sigh*.
