steoreotyping

okokokokok... so i haven't been updating the past few days... *grumble* but it's not as if i have got much time to even go online recently! SOMEONE shld noe........

anyway... another reason i haven't been blogging much is cuz there hasn't been any flash of inspiration nor any pressing issues which i simply MUST blog about otherwise i'll explode. i don't really like entries titled "my day".. how mundane.

but i've suddenly found sth to blog about. stereotyping. i know, it probably sounds like a repeat of my earlier entry. hell yeah, i like this topic cuz i'm terribly against it. just hope that i won't commit that mistake myself...

I guess stereotyping is a very common trend in society. Inevitable. Virtually unchallenged. What is it about man that makes us so prone to these behaviours? At this point i feel compelled to make a quote from a friend's blog. (Copyrights to xy, paiseh i stole part of your blog entry. Hope you don't mind..)

i came to observe that a certain form of conflict exist in our world, be it abt religion or other stuff, stems from e inability of ppl to accomodate another group of ppl wif different lifestyles or different views. its a central theme from e module of geopolitics that i took last sem.

"The essential moment of geopolitical discourse is the division of space into 'our' place n 'their place', its political function is being to incorporate n regulate 'us' from 'them', the same from 'the other' "

After i read this i felt that it was very true. Fundamentally, stereotyping is about differences. And in addition, an intrinsic fear of that very difference between different groups of people.

(Very late liao... need to wake up early tml for tuition.. To be continued....)
