so wat IS the whole point of studying

Yesterday there were some workers in my house from morning till afternoon, changing the aluminium window rivets to stainless steel ones, as stipulated by the law. Is anyone not familiar with this?

And so we had to move alot of furniture around so that the workers could have enough space to work on the windows. As a result, my house currently resembles one which is undergoing spring cleaning.

So I took this chance to clear out old stuff in my cupboards and drawers so that I could clear up some space. My room is small and I have way too much stuff that I keep unnecessarily. Like textbooks, TYS-es and all my notes and tutorials and what-nots from my sec sch and JC days. Oh boy do I feel like a garang guni. I probably own enough scrap paper material to feed a garang guni for days.

Thus, while I was looking through my old notes, I came across my A level chem notes and tutorials. My eyes fell upon some tutorial with the heading "MNR" and somewhere I have written some answer to a question in pink: "cessation required." And I was thinking, what the heck is cessation?!? Omigosh, that was when it struck me with horror that I have probably wasted 2 yrs of my life learning stuff that I would never ever use again, nor I could even use if the need or chance arises cuz I can't remember anything I've learnt anyway...!!

So it was that I started wondering, what IS the whole damned point of studying anyway ? I mean, I worked my socks off throughout JC, crammed a whole bunch of stupid pointless facts into my head so that I could get an A for my a levels, just so that I could get into uni to learn something entirely different and forget about all that I've learned in those 2 yrs? How ridiculous is that? Can someone tell me the logic behind all this? Crap, how I would like to know why the system is as screwed up as it is. And it also makes me wonder just how much of the knowledge that I'm learning in school now is actually put to use in real life when I graduate and start working. Probably less than 10%, seeing how I usually happily forget most of my stuff I've learned throughout the sem during the hols anyway. Hah. And whats even funnier is that the holidays are actually almost just as long as the semester period. what irony is this??

Screw the guy who came up with the whole idea of an education system like this man.. Brilliant idea, this. Great way to spend our precious youth, yeah. Whatever...
